Good News Regarding Fees for 2022
Budgeting and planning to announce school fees for the year ahead, takes hours and hours of very careful consideration and is undertaken with the interests of all stakeholders in mind. Although money spent on school fees is always money well spent, we usually dread the thought of announcing fee increases for the forthcoming year, as we are just so cognizant of the commitment that school fees place on our parents. The Covid pandemic has meant even more pressure on household incomes and the global and local economy is gradual in its recovery.
I am confident that, as parents, making the significant sacrifices that you do to send your children to this prestigious institution, you will know and understand that investing in a good education for your children is of the utmost importance. You and your children will reap significant benefits in the years to come. No one can rob your child of an excellent education! St Martin’s continues to lay a solid foundation, offering an education that well equips your children for whichever path they choose to follow in the future.
As our Finance committee sat and considered the school’s finances and projections for 2022, we are pleased to be able to announce that the fee structure for next year offers our parents some relief. The High School fees will remain the same as this year’s, and our Prep School fees have been lowered by between 10% and 20%. The objective of this, is the call for more affordable schooling, given the hardships experienced by many families in the current economic environment.
A further matter that has been considered and now formalized, as of January 2022, is the official introduction of a sibling discount. We hope that this will bring further relief for parents who have more than one child at St Martin’s. This discount will be applied as follows: 2.5% for the second child, 5% for the third child and 10% for a fourth child. These discounts are applied in a family, to each child’s fees and will be reviewed when a sibling matriculates or leaves the school.
The School’s Finance Committee has been able to achieve this relief in fees, by careful consideration and planning, while not compromising on the quality of our educational offering. It is expected that the reduced fees will also attract a greater number of pupils
Another exciting offering is the extension of boarding to accommodate students in Grade 7. There are also exciting plans afoot to expand the offering in the Pre-Primary to a full day, fully inclusive fee, providing extended convenience for working parents. Details will follow in due course.
We hope that the school fee relief will bring some good news to our parents in a time filled with so much negativity. As the Covid Vaccine rollout continues in our country, we are hopeful of a more positive outlook for South Africa to begin the process of recovery in 2022. We thank all our parents and staff for travelling the journey with us here at St Martin’s.
