Roanne Verster: Inspiring Excellence as Head of Mathematics at St Martin’s

 

Roanne VersterRoanne Verster, a proud member of St Martin’s Class of 1994, currently serves as the Head of Mathematics at the school. Her academic journey began with earning a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree, followed by the completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programme at UNISA. This solid educational foundation led her into the world of teaching, where she initially taught Accounting and Mathematics before expanding her repertoire to include Business Studies. However, it is in Mathematics where Roanne has discovered her true passion, and she now focuses exclusively on this subject.

As an educator, Roanne is deeply committed to fostering an environment of growth and excellence. She believes that qualities such as commitment, perseverance, and dedication are vital for both teachers and students alike. Her approach to teaching emphasizes the importance of these traits, as they not only help students grasp complex mathematical concepts but also encourage them to develop a strong work ethic. Roanne takes great pride in watching her students succeed, finding fulfilment in their personal and academic growth.

Roanne's enthusiasm for teaching Mathematics is evident in her interactions with her students, as she strives to inspire them to reach their full potential. She understands the challenges students may face and is dedicated to guiding them through these hurdles with patience and encouragement. Her passion for the subject, coupled with her belief in the power of hard work and determination, enables her to create a positive and motivating learning environment where students can thrive.
