St Martin's 2019 FEDA Play Cast

The St Martin’s Drama students participated in the 2019 FEDA (Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts) performing Frank Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”. The play is a novella written, originally in German, by Franz Kafka and was first published in 1915. This is one of Kafka's best-known works and tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa who wakes up one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a massive cockroach and his subsequent struggles to adjust to this new condition.

The FEDA audience watched in fascination as Katiso Molefe woke up as a giant insect and scared the living daylights out of his family! The play was directed by matric student, Yonaka Theledi under the guidance of Dramatic Arts Teacher, Ashálin Singh. Considering this was the first year St Martin’s has participated in the FEDA plays, the actors and actresses did very well and were nominated for three awards including best costume design, best newcomers, best director.

In addition, Nathi Katsana and Katiso Molefe were awarded merit certificates for acting while Yonaka Theledi received a merit certificate for makeup design, while the full cast received an award for ensemble.
