St Martin’s School Celebrates Exceptional Matric Results for the Class of 2025

It is with enormous pride that I share the Matric results for the Class of 2025. This year our students have again demonstrated the spirit, resilience and scholarship that define St Martin’s. I am delighted to announce a 100% pass rate, with 93% of the cohort qualifying for Bachelor’s Degree Studies and one student achieving a Diploma Pass. In short, every member of the class leaves us qualified to continue their studies. These results represent our highest overall average in four years and are a credit to every student, parent and teacher who has been part of this journey.

Our top achievers for 2025 are:
• Cayden Atti: 7 distinctions (English HL; Afrikaans FAL; Business Studies; Dramatic Arts; Mathematics; Physical Sciences; Life Orientation) Cayden’s Life Orientation result places him in the top 1% nationally.
• Tiago Juve: 4 distinctions (Business Studies; Dramatic Arts; Mathematical Literacy; Life Orientation)
• Hadi Khalife: 3 distinctions (English HL; Business Studies; Life Orientation)
• Khumo Tyuwa: 3 distinctions (Dramatic Arts; isiZulu FAL; Life Orientation)
• Marina Castro: 2 distinctions (Life Orientation; Portuguese SAL) Marina’s Portuguese SAL result places her in the top 1% nationally.
• Mvuselelo Sibanda: 2 distinctions (isiZulu FAL; Life Orientation)
• Jordan Bennett: 1 distinction (Life Orientation)

We are particularly pleased to report that our class averages in Business Studies, Mathematical Literacy, Mathematics and Physical Sciences are above the IEB national averages: a clear indication of the quality of teaching at St Martin’s. The majority of our other subjects sit close to the national average, reflecting a consistently strong and well-rounded academic programme.

These achievements are, of course, the outcome of partnership. To our students: congratulations! You have earned every one of these results through hard work, commitment and character. You leave us not only with strong academic credentials, but as young men and women of integrity and promise. To the parents and families who have supported, encouraged and sustained our students: thank you. Your support has been vital.

To our teachers, in both the High School and the Prep School: my deepest thanks. The excellence reflected in these results is the fruit of tireless preparation, thoughtful instruction and a commitment to lifting every student. Our Prep School colleagues continue to lay the foundations that allow our students to flourish right through to their final year. I also extend thanks to our Governing Council and our support staff - this is very much a communal achievement.

At St Martin’s we measure success not only by examination results but by the calibre of the people our students become. It is important to celebrate the whole child - their growth in character, leadership, service and creativity - alongside academic accomplishment. These young people leave us as proud alumni and ambassadors of our values.

As St Martin’s continues to grow and redevelop, we remain steadfast in our commitment to academic distinction and to our guiding motto, Non Recuso Laborem (“I do not shirk work”). Our tagline, “where every child is known”, is not merely aspirational; it is lived out daily in small acts of care and in the sustained effort of staff and students alike. These results remind us that a personalised, rigorous and compassionate education produces both excellent outcomes and principled citizens.

Once again, congratulations to the Matric Class of 2025. We look forward to celebrating their achievements with the whole school community and to watching them as they take up the next chapter of their lives.
